Taiwanese sci-fi comics to exhibit in America's biggest comic online exhibition

"Comic-Con@Home," the virtual Taiwan Exhibit as part of America's biggest comic convention Comic-Con International: San Diego will be held from July 23 to 25, revolving around the theme of "Future Island," showcasing 10 Taiwanese sci-fi original works and an online talk.

Supported by the Ministry of Culture (MOC) and the Taiwan Academy of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, the Chinese Animation and Comic Publishers Association (CCPA) has assisted in organizing the exhibition.

The featured artworks include "First Divorce, Then Monsters? (打怪前先離婚?)" by Aniyong (安妮羊), "De Bug(祓魔)" by Chou Yen (周巘), "Soul(狩)" by Chiyou (蚩尤), "Opus: The Day We Found Earth 1 (地球計畫)" by PN Chen (陳PN), "Pirate Town(鐵男孩:山寨之城)" by Richard Metson (麥人杰), "Mayfly Island(蜉蝣之島)" by Evergreen Yeh (葉長青), "Mechanical Souls(囍宴機器人)" by Yu-Yu Hsu (徐幼禹), "Pigsy Express(未來宅急便)" by Li-Wei Chiu (邱立偉), "MU Empire(姆帝國)" by KCN (氫酸鉀), and "Zigma" by Oscar Tsai (奧斯卡) and six other co-creators.

These artworks depict a Taiwanese cyber-punk vision of the future, leading viewers on an escape from reality and the hardships of the pandemic to perceive hopes.

Moreover, the Taiwan Exhibit will invite Dr. Ma Wan-chun (馬萬鈞), winner of the Scientific and Technical Achievement Award at the Academy Awards, Klimt Lin (林正庭), director of the Taiwanese animation "Mayfly Island," and Li Shang-chiao (李尚喬), the screenwriter of "Mayfly Island" to join an online talk titled "Survival is the Adventure! Mayfly Island's Dream of Near-future Animation."
