MOC participates in annual event of New York's Association of Performing Arts Professionals

The Taipei Cultural Center in New York will participate in a virtual exhibit organized by the Association of Performing Arts Professionals' (APAP), introducing 31 Taiwanese teams and 4 major performance venues.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, APAP has moved all activities online, including its annual conference. The paper publication materials on display at the performing arts exhibit were digitized. In addition to the basic introduction and actual performances of the teams, the exhibition also included the introduction to the main works and performance settings, so that international curators could quickly understand the teams and the key points of their works.

The Taiwanese groups that participated in the exhibition this time include Cloud Gate Dance Theatre (雲門舞集), Bulareyaung Dance Company (布拉瑞揚舞團), Huang Yi Studio (黃翊工作室), Horse Dance Theatre (驫舞劇場), and Incandescence Dance (告白熾造), among others. The venues included National Theater and Concert Hall (台灣國家兩廳院), National Taichung Theater (台中國家歌劇院), National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) and Taipei Performing Arts Center (台北表演藝術中心).

Titled "The Arts in 2022: Recovery, Resilience and Purpose," the APAP|NYC+ 2022 all-online conference begins on Jan. 10. Ben Cameron, the winner of the National Medal of Arts, is invited as the keynote speaker.

Cameron calls on performing arts partners facing a crisis of survival to not limit themselves to restoring past prosperity, but to think more actively about the needs of the overall performing arts community and explore the possibility of resource integration. He reminded the participants not to forget that the performing arts have the power to unite civil society. They serve as a stage for the display of human creativity and intellectual energy, and the most important key to enhancing the human soul.

The Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP), the largest performing arts organization in the United States, holds its annual conference in New York City every January.
