Taiwanese films selected in the largest LGBTQ film festival in the world

Four Taiwanese works are selected to be screened at Frameline46, the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival, on separate days from June 20 through 24. The titles include "Moneyboys (金錢男孩)," which had premiered at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, the lesbian miniseries "Fragrance of the First Flower (第一次遇見花香的那刻)," and short films "Tank Fairy (桶裝仙女)" and "Kiss."

Among the films, "Moneyboys" was selected in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2021 Cannes and also was nominated for Best Leading Actor and Best New Director of the 58th Golden Horse Awards. The director C.B.Yi will be at the post-screening Q&A to meet the audience and share behind-the-scene stories. "Fragrance of the First Flower" is not only the first Taiwanese show to be nominated at the SERIES MANIA International Festival but also has been named by Variety as one of the best international TV shows of 2021. The story is between two women who, separated in high school by prejudice and fear, reunite later in life and become open to the possibility of a blossoming love they never dared to dream of.

"Tank Fairy" depicts that once upon a time, the magical Tank Fairy delivered tanks of gas. Her arrival upends the life of Jojo, a lonely ten-year-old who dreams of dancing and drag. "Kiss" is about an impossible kiss in an era when physical contact is strictly forbidden.

The San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival, which will run from June 16 to 26, is the longest-running, largest, and most widely recognized LGBTQ+ film exhibition event in the world. Frameline46 has partnered with the Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles for 3 consecutive years. This year, Frameline46 will include an in-person experience from June 16 to 26, with Streaming Encore on June 24, and be available to view anywhere in the US until June 30. With an annual attendance of more than 60,000, Frameline is the most prominent and well-attended LGBTQ+ arts program in the Bay Area.
