Taiwan's Artrend Performance Group (阿川行為群) will join the 19th RiAP (Rencontre internationale d'art performance), an international performance art summit based in Quebec that will unveil a series of performances from Sept. 15 through 25.
The two-week festival will present performances, conferences, and forums featuring artists from Canada, Indonesia, Peru, Portugal, Slovakia, and Taiwan. The events will take place at venues in several Canadian cities, offering insights into the cultural context and political impact of works by each artist.
The four participating artists from the group — namely Chiu Chun-ta (邱俊達), Yeh Tzu-chi (葉子啟), Ting Li-ping (丁麗萍), and Watan Wuma (瓦旦塢瑪) — are from different generations and art fields. They will jointly present an project titled "INTERNATIONAL ART ACTION MAPPING - Interdisciplinary Art-Action TAIWAN-North America.”
Based in southern Taiwan, Artrend Performance Group aims to help the public in understanding and participating in avant-garde performance art. Since 2003, the group has served as a platform for Taiwanese artists to exchange ideas with their foreign counterparts.
The group has held several festivals in Taiwan that were joined by international artists. It has also participated in international festivals and collaborated with artists overseas to develop a broader range of performance art.
Following the 19th RiAP, Artrend Performance Group will join art galleries in New York for live performances and exchanges.
