The Taipei Cultural Center in New York, a branch office of the Ministry of Culture tasked with promoting cultural exchanges with the East Coast, will present a series of exciting programs from Aug. 12 through Oct. 22 to mark its 25th anniversary.
The celebration will encompass events including a prints exhibition, tea-making performances, and film screenings featuring Taiwan's unique culture.
Scheduled for Aug. 12 through Sept. 2, "Dialogue on Printmaking: The Taiwan-US Exchange Exhibition” will showcase artworks created by Taiwanese artists and American printmakers, offering insights into the world of printmaking from the different perspectives and aesthetics of each artist.
A week-long series of tea ceremony performances will also open on Aug. 12. Lin's Ceramics Studio (陶作坊), a tea ware and crafts brand based in Taipei, will bring its award-winning performance "Tea Party: Slow Flow” to share Taiwan's traditional tea culture with audiences in New York.
A double tea ceremony titled "When Matcha Meets Oolong: A Japanese-Taiwanese Joint Tea Ceremony” will also be presented by Lin's Ceramics Studio in collaboration with Tenri Cultural Institute of New York. The Aug. 13 event will enable audiences to learn about the respective tea cultures of Taiwan and Japan.
A film series will then kick off on Aug. 30, showcasing selected films that explore the contemporary art, cinematic history, and social development of Taiwan through the lens of celebrated Taiwanese directors such as Yang Li-Chou (楊力州), Chen Sing-ing (陳芯宜), and Chang Jung-chi (張榮吉).
