The Taiwan Academy in New York will host a special live session showcasing the development of contemporary dance in Taiwan on Oct. 13.
Guest speaker Wang Ru-ping (王如萍), a full-time faculty member at the University of Taipei, is a dance educator and a former dancer with Jose Limon Dance Company, Mary Anthony Dance Theatre, and Martha Graham Dance Theatre.
This year, she will be leading a delegation of ten students from the University of Taipei to perform in the 2015 Jose Limon International Dance Festival in New York.
Prior to their performances on Oct. 17 and 18 at the Joyce Theater, the students will collaborate with Wang to demonstrate the dance aesthetics of Taiwan, the land that nurtured Cloud Gate Dance Theatre and choreographer Huang Yi, among many others.
