TAICCA and NewImages Festival joined hands to launch 'Taiwan x France XR Day'

Having previously partnered with the Kaohsiung Film Festival in 2019, France's NewImages Festival strategically partnered with the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) for this year's extended reality (XR) workshop titled "Taiwan x France XR Day," which took place on June 8 on the eve of the NewImages Festival in Paris.

The one-day Taiwan-France XR Day workshop was the result of the project based on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between TAICCA and NewImages Festival. The project aims to strengthen the links between French and Taiwanese industries, allow alliances to form, and create cooperation and business opportunities to accelerate Taiwan's XR industry ecosystem in hopes of transforming Taiwan into a leader of XR content.

Featuring ten Taiwanese professionals to explore the French XR ecosystem, Taiwan-France XR Day workshop served as a platform for selected participants to engage in direct and constructive dialogue, in addition to bringing players from both sides together.

The first part of the workshop titled 'Spotlight on the Taiwanese XR ecosystem' included a presentation from TAICCA and pitch presentations from Taiwanese participants which explored the particularities and complementarities between the French and Taiwanese XR ecosystems.

The second part of the workshop titled ‘Meet the French XR ecosystem’ introduced key French partners, and provided feedbacks on the past three successful collaborative VR projects between the two countries, including "Mechanical Souls," "Gloomy Eyes," and "The Starry Sand Beach."

It was hoped that the sequence would provide an opportunity for Taiwanese delegates to warm up prior to engaging in subsequent events of the NewImages Festival along with other international delegates and professionals.

Hosted by the Forum des images, NewImages Festival was born out of the merger of Paris Virtual Film Festival and l Love Transmédia in January 2018.
