Taipei-based Kandala Records made a rare UK appearance at London's Café OTO to present the irregular landscape of the current experimental music scene in Taiwan.

The two-day residency was part of Formless, a project exploring Taiwan's experimental music and sound culture. Organized by the Taipei Representative Office in the UK with support from Taiwan's Ministry of Culture, the performances followed the British debut of "TPE Tics (台北抽搐)” at Bertha DocHouse.

The second night of live music and sound art performance featured:

Xie Zhongqi

Xie, who also goes by Wolfenstein, is a sound artist, computer music composer, and member of Taipei Sound Unit. He has been recognized by the BIAS Sound Art Exhibition and the Digital Art Awards in Taipei.

Zhang You-sheng

He has served as the impromptu guitar player in Taiwanese band Jump Off Overpass, and initiated a series of festivals and performing events on free improvisation, noise music, and fusion of traditional and classical styles. He is the founder of Kandala Records, a music label focusing on noise, avant-garde, improvisation, psychedelic music in Taiwan.
