Taiwanese design captures two awards at lifestyle expo NY NOW

The "Fresh Taiwan" delegation led by the Ministry of Culture has successfully attended NY NOW Summer, a bi-annual trade show with the most design-forward brands in the industry, for the fourth time. At the Awards Night Party on Aug. 13, the Fresh Taiwan pavilion won the "Best Booth Design" award, while the Taiwanese brand HMM received the "Best Overall Collection" award. By capturing two out of 19 possible awards, Taiwan's abundant creativity and unique style are resounding with international buyers and shoppers.

NY NOW Summer 2019 was held on Aug. 11 through 14 at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The Fresh Taiwan pavilion held an opening tea party on Aug. 11, which received coverage by multiple American and international media, including Yanko Design, an online magazine dedicated to covering international product designs; Dexigner, an online portal publishing the latest design news and events; The Expo Review, an English-Korean site on trade events; House tipster, an online platform for interior design news and products; iF Product Design Award news website; World Design Organization (WDO), an international voice for industrial design; and AZURE magazine on contemporary architecture and design.

Several Fresh Taiwan brands were also chosen by an independent selection committee to have their innovative, emerging designs displayed at the Accent on Design® pavilion. Taiwanese brands were showcased right next to many well-known international brands, such as French designer brand LEXON, Canadian home design brand Umbra, and Japanese home design brand Plus D (+d).

The Fresh Taiwan pavilion attracted many international buyers and Taiwanese brand representatives actively discussed cooperation opportunities with Virgin Megastore, a leading lifestyle retail chain of the Virgin Group; Event Network, LLC, an operator of gift shops in museums, aquariums, and historical sites across North America; US retailer Urban Outfitters; and Canadian modern home décor provider Umbra.
