TAICCA promotes 82 Taiwanese films at TIFF for the first time

Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) presented 82 films and projects in its first-ever Taiwan Cinema booth at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which ran from Sep. 8 to 18, in Canada.

At the Taiwan Cinema booth, TAICCA offered a diversity of stories suitable for a wide range of markets. The feature films included "Untold Herstory (流麻溝十五號)," "Fantasy・World (童話・世界)," "Life for Sale (售命)," and more. There were also documentaries, namely "A Holy Family (神人之家),” "Love Without Clutching, Leave Without Guilt (愛別離苦),” and "He's Still Young (他還年輕).” “Demigod: The Legend Begins (素還真),” which took the audience crown in the Asian Competition at the Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival, led an exciting line-up of Taiwanese animation projects. Other films such as the first Taiwanese animated series "Sci-fi 2049+Voice of Rebirth (2049+絕處逢聲)," the ecological animation short film "An Illusory Joy (捉蝶仔个人)," as well as short films "Part Forever (永別)" and "The Protest (那一個晚上)" were also part of the line-up.

The film "Goddamned Asura (該死的阿修羅)," which is Taiwan's submission for this year's Best International Feature at the Academy Award, was screened on Sep. 11, followed by a cocktail event to promote all the participating projects.

Established in 1976, TIFF Industry is organized every year in September. Supported by Canada's Government of Ontario and Telefilm Canada, the festival attracts nearly 700,000 professionals and audiences during the event. This year, in addition to running publicity for "Goddamned Asura," the Taiwan Cinema booth also promoted Taiwanese films and a project for international collaboration and investment, in order to strive for more global collaboration opportunities and enhance the popularity of Taiwanese films on the international stage.
