Blessing ceremony held to inaugurate new headquarters

The Executive Yuan’s Xinzhuang Joint Office Building Complex, which occupies 2.1 hectares with a total floor area of over 35,000 ping, was formally inaugurated on Jan. 28. Vice Premier Mao Chi-kuo led 13 officials, whose government agencies have moved into the new complex, to attend the ceremony and show the diversified, open-minded, and dynamic image of the administration. The twin buildings, which are located in New Taipei City, aim to provide Taiwanese citizens with brand-new public services and efficiency.

The twin buildings in Xinzhuang, known as the North Tower and the South Tower, will accommodate a total of 13 government agencies, including the Ministry of Culture, the Hakka Affairs Council, and the Council of Indigenous People, and house over 3,500 public servants, to jointly create prosperity for local communities.

Following folk customs, the Ministry of Culture held a blessing ritual as part of the inauguration ceremony on Jan. 28. A dragon made with 720 kilograms of rice was revealed at the ceremony to show appreciation for the public’s support and to pray for blessings for the entire nation.

The giant rice dragon sculpture will be on display at the gallery in the southern tower of the joint office building complex until Feb. 14, after which the rice will be donated to charity.
