Zhou and Ma make Golden Horse history
Actresses Zhou Dong-yu and Ma Si-chun are the first pair to ever jointly receive the Golden Horse Best Actress Award. In the film “Soul Mate,” the two actresses present a complicated love story of two girls with different personalities. The stunning performances of these two actresses have earned recognition from the judges.
 
Fan Wei named Best Actor 
The 54-year-old veteran actor Fan Wei plays a fence-riding farm manager in “Mr. No Problem.” He portrayed kindness, malice, and vulgarity with great deftness, winning the award for Best Actor after a first-time nomination.
 
Best Supporting Actor, Actress 
The best supporting actor and actress awards go to Taiwanese actor Lin Po-hung and actress Elaine Jin.Lin Po-hung is the underdog who defeated the favorite nominee Eric Tsang. Elaine Jin, in the Cantonese film “Mad World,” plays a mother who has been suffering from illness. Her intense and strong performance stunned the judges. 
 
Feng Xiao-gang named Best Director 
For directing “I Am Not Madame Bovary,” Feng Xiao-gang won the award for his circular way of shooting, demonstrating to the world that his persistence was right.
 
Golden Horse Best Feature “The Summer Is Gone” 
The award for Best Feature goes to Chinese film “The Summer Is Gone.”  The whole film is shot in black and white, portraying towns in western China during the Chinese economic reform in the early 1990s,and the reform’s impact on families and society.
“The Summer Is Gone” received six nominations this year, including for Best Director,and it walked away with the award for Best Feature, so it can be considered the biggest winner of the 2016 Golden Horse Awards.
