'Musemble City'

The National Taiwan Museum in Taipei will host a special exhibition titled “Musemble City: An Experiencing Project for Modernity” from Dec. 22 through Sept. 4, 2016 to coincide with its centennial anniversary of establishment.

Co-curated by NTM and the Alliance for Architectural Modernity (台灣現代建築學會), the exhibition will showcase 45 retrospective images of landmarks circling the museum and the modern architecture in the old town district of Taipei.

Six additional spatial installations ― “Urban Utopia,” “Modern Streets,” “City Nomads,” “Sense and Knowledge,” “Space Authority,” and “Industrial Production” ― will also be offered as labyrinths to present the centennial history of the museum and Taipei City.

The title “Musemble” originates from the French phrase “musée–ensemble,” an amalgamation of the word for assemble and the nine Muses who serve as inspiration in literature and art. The phrase refers to a place for storing memories.
