The Singapore Chinese Film Festival (SCFF) has unveiled the lineup for its 11th edition, presenting a total of 55 feature films, documentaries, and short films from Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau, America, and more from April 28 to May 7. In addition, 22 Taiwanese films will be screened, with “Workers The Movie (做工的人)” to premiere internationally as the closing film of the festival.

Organized by the Singapore University of Social Sciences and Singapore Film Society, the festival is returning to an entirely physical format for the first time after three years of the pandemic. Local and overseas filmmakers are also invited to participate in post-screening interaction with the audiences.

In an interview with the Central News Agency, the festival director and chief curator Foo Tee Tuan (符詩專) stated that many of the Taiwanese films screened at this year's festival revolve around the theme of "family," including "Workers The Movie," "Wishful Syncing (你的婚姻不是你的婚姻-聖筊)" and "The Reunion (洞裡的月亮)." The selected films also present the most important elements of Taiwanese movies which are warmth and humanity, for instance, the martial arts fantasy film “DEMIGOD: The Legend Begins (素還真)” has a strong local flavor.

"Workers The Movie" is a comedy-drama film based on the television series "Workers" and focused on a trio of happy-go-lucky workers; "Wishful Syncing" infused modern technology into traditional beliefs; while "The Reunion" is a story about family relationships.

Besides the above-mentioned titles, other Taiwanese films featured at the festival include "Day Off (本日公休)," "Final Exam (期末考)," "Coo-Coo 043 (一家子兒咕咕叫)." Under the segment "Chinese Short Cuts (短片驚嘆號)," a series of short films that reflect the diversity of multi-faceted Chinese societies from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Malaysia will also be presented.
