Taipei Philharmonic Chamber Choir invited to perform in Türkiye

The Taipei Philharmonic Chamber Choir (TPCC) will perform three concerts and attend a pre-concert talk from April 25 to 29 at the World Symposium on Choral Music (WSCM) in Türkiye, with the aim of showcasing Taiwanese culture through choral singing. This marks the third time the choir has been invited by the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM). Previously, they have performed at WSCM in Sydney, Australia in 1996 and in Minneapolis, USA in 2002.

With the theme of "Image‧Taiwan (印象‧臺灣)," the concert repertoire includes over 10 choral tracks such as "Sanctus (聖哉經)" by the recipient of the National Award for Arts Chien Nan-chang (錢南章), "One is Fry Rice Pop (一的炒米香)” by Shih Ching-ju (石青如), "White Egrets (白鷺鷥)" by Hsiao Yu-ting (蕭育霆), and "My Final Resting Place (最後的住家)." In addition, TPCC music director and conductor Johnny Ku (古育仲) will be speaking at the pre-concert talk to introduce choral pieces from Taiwan and Southeast Asia and showcase the diverse cultural backgrounds of Taiwan.

Taipei Philharmonic Chamber Choir is a 30-voice chamber choir from Taiwan. It was established in 1993, out of the 150-voice Taipei Philharmonic Chorus which was founded in 1972. Through the efforts of its conductors, it has put together an extensive repertoire and cultivated a reputation as one of the most prestigious choirs in Taiwan.

The World Symposium on Choral Music promotes artistic excellence, cooperation and exchange by bringing together the finest choirs and choral leaders for performances, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and choral reading sessions. This year, a total of 10 groups were selected out of a pool of 72 from around the world; TPCC and Indonesian choir Batavia Madrigal Singers are the only selected groups from Asia.
