Taiwanese playwright and director Wang Yu-hui to share his perspective on children's theatre

Organized by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia and curated by the INXO Arts and Culture Foundation (雲手文創基金會), Tea Philo (哲學茶席) will hold its 61st session at the Oriental Art & Cultural Center in Kuala Lumpur on July 22. Hosted by the founder of Greenhopper Theatre Grace Looi (呂俊霖), Taiwanese playwright and director Wang Yu-hui (王友輝) will attend the session in person to share his perspectives under the theme of "The Secret Garden of Children's Theatre (兒童戲劇的秘密花園)."


Wang is currently a professor and director of the Graduate Institute of Children's Literature at National Taitung University. He is active in the contemporary theatrical scene in Taiwan as a writer, director, actor and critic, and has worked in multiple genres, including youth theatre, Taiwanese opera, and experimental theatre. In 2013, Wang worked with Our Theatre (阮劇團) to initiate “The Farm of Plays (劇本農場)” project; in 2022, he published “Remembering An-ping: Collection of Yu-Hui Wang (安平追想曲:王友輝劇作選輯).” During the session, Wang will introduce the types of children’s theatre as well as its historical development and key features.


The host of this session, Grace Looi, is a renowned children’s drama writer and director as well as the founder of Greenhopper Theatre in Malaysia. Looi is experienced in children’s drama education and has conducted children's speech and drama lessons at various schools and community organizations. She has also participated in relevant training and life education programs.
