The Kwang Hwa Information and Culture Centre in Hong Kong will hold the second part of its acclaimed "Taiwan Talks” program from July 13 through Nov. 3 to discuss the latest trending topics in Taiwan.
In the first half of the program, which took place from March through June, four forums shared Taiwan's diverse culture as well as the latest Taiwanese discussions encompassing love, gay marriage, life, theater, film, and music.
The forums were headed by Chou Chin-hua (周進華), founder of Chou Ta-Kuan Cultural and Educational Foundation, writer Chi Ta-wei (紀大偉), playwright and theater actor Wu Hsin-kuo (吳興國), and author Tsai Chu-er (蔡珠兒).
The second part of "Taiwan Talks” will feature filmmaker Midi Z (趙德胤), writer-director Giddens Ko (九把刀), musician Lin Sheng-xiang (林生祥), and author Chang Man-chuan (張曼娟) sharing their experiences in life as artists and creative individuals.
The first session will be held on July 13, with Myanmar-born Taiwanese director Midi Z sharing his early life in Myanmar, where he has learned to stay calm and focused during the turbulent years.
Next up will be Ko, who once expressed "a dream that is laughed by others is a dream worth practicing. Even if you trip, the posture would be heroic.” The versatile writer will share his experience of writing and how he became a film director on July 21.
Independent musician Lin from southern Taiwan is known for his Taiwanese songs that connect social movements with the land. The Kaohsiung native will share how he safeguards the land of Taiwan through music on Oct. 17.
The last session will be held on Nov. 3, with notable author Chang sharing her life journey and her philosophy. Chang has noted "we all come to this world alone, and leave this world alone after going through the ups and downs of life. You can prepare for death, and once you are prepared, you will be free from worries and scary thoughts.”
