Revered arts educator to hold show, talks in Malaysia

Renowned artist and educationist Huang Kuang-nan (黃光男) will hold a solo fine arts exhibition in Kuala Lumpur from April 23 through May 8 at the Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) Grand Culture Center.

Huang, 72, possesses broad knowledge encompassing Chinese art history, art theory, art administration, and museology. He is also a practitioner of ink painting and calligraphy, having shown an exceptional aptitude for aesthetics from a young age.

Born in the southern Taiwanese region of Kaohsiung in 1944, Huang grew up in a farming village that provided him with a lifelong affinity for nature. He went on to serve as a national policy advisor to the president, director of the National Museum of History and the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and president of the National Taiwan University of Arts.

In the month-long show co-organized by Soka Gakkai Malaysia and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, more than 40 pieces of his ink painting masterpieces will be displayed for Malaysian exhibitiongoers to see. Huang will also deliver two speeches - April 23 in Kuala Lumpur and April 24 in Penang - and discuss potential cultural collaboration among Taiwanese and Malaysian artists.
