Spotlight Taiwan Project facilitates Taiwan-Malaysia literary exchange

Supported by the Ministry of Culture’s (MOC) Spotlight Taiwan Project (臺灣文化光點計畫), the Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) in Malaysia is hosting the 10th Chinese Literature Festival from now until Oct. 26, highlighting the vitality of Taiwanese and Sinophone Malaysian literature throughout their development.

UPSI’s Chinese Literature Festival, initiated in 2015, features prominent themes such as literature in translation, modern literature of Taiwan, Sinophone Malaysian literature, and nativist literature. This year, the festival revolves around literature and history.

The festival kicked off on May 24 with a theater workshop facilitated by Taiwanese actor An Yuan-liang (安原良), teaching paricipants how to translate texts into performances. Taiwan-based writers such as Ho Sok-fong (賀淑芳) and Su Wei-chen (蘇偉貞) will visit Malaysia in June to give author talks.

Additionally, in October, a series of events including a Modern Chinese poetry camp and a Taiwan-Malaysia literary magazine exhibition will be held. For more information, please see UPSI’s Chinese Literature Festival Facebook page.
