The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan, in collaboration with the Preparatory Office of the National Railway Museum, inaugurated the exhibition “Stories of Taiwan Railway Bento (搭火車,品臺灣:臺灣鐵路便當物語)” in Tokyo on Sept. 10.
This exhibition serves as a preview of the Omiya Railway Museum’s upcoming exhibition on Taiwan’s railway, scheduled for February next year in Japan. Deputy Representative Chou Shyue-yow (周學佑) of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan and Director Yoshiyuki Oba (大場喜幸) of the Omiya Railway Museum attended the inauguration ceremony.
Deputy Representative Chou emphasized that Taiwan and Japan, sharing close geographic and historical ties, have common memories and culture, including the unique experiences associated with “railways” and “bento.”
Director Yoshiyuki Oba praised the exhibition and revealed that the upcoming event at the Railway Museum will feature more artifacts and stories about the railway cultures of Taiwan and Japan.
This exhibition is running until Nov. 8. For more information, visit the Preparatory Office of National Railway Museum’s event page.
