The solo exhibition of Taiwanese photographer Shen Chao-liang (沈昭良), titled “Return and Backflow - Shen Chao-Liang Photography Exhibition (迴流.復返–沈昭良攝影展),” is taking place until Oct. 15 in Higashikawa, Hokkaido, Japan.
The exhibition displays over 100 works from Shen’s three major series, which he spent more than three decades creating: “Tsukiji Fish Market (築地魚市場),” “STAGE,” and “Drifting (漂流).”
Shen is currently a professor in the Photography and VR Design Department at Huafan University (華梵大學) in Taiwan. In June, he was awarded the Photographic Society of Japan’s International Prize for his contributions to fostering photography education and exchange between Taiwan and Japan.
In 1985, Higashikawa declared itself the world’s first “Town of Photography,” launching the Higashikawa International Photo Festival, now the longest-running and most influential photography festival in Japan.
