Taiwan Book Fair launches in Japan

The Taiwan Cultural Center in Tokyo has launched its 3rd annual Taiwan Book Fair in collaboration with Japanese bookstore chain Kinokuniya (紀伊國屋書店). This year’s book fair, with a focus on Taiwanese food culture, has been taking place across 36 Kinokuniya locations in Japan from August to October, and readers are encouraged to take free guidebooks with them.

In the opening ceremony, Taiwanese representative to Japan Li Yi-yang (李逸洋) thanked Chairman of Japan-ROC Diet Members’ Consultative Council Keiji Furuya (古屋圭司) and Chairman of Kinokuniya Masashi Takai (高井昌史) for their support of the book fair, and invited readers to experience the charm of Taiwan through the event.

This year’s guidebook, showcasing 38 books on Taiwanese cuisine published between 2020 and 2024, allows readers to have a deeper understanding of Taiwanese food culture, including the history of Taiwanese delicacies, as well as introductions to Taiwanese snacks, drinks, and many others.
