The Osaka Asian Film Festival 2025 (OAFF) announced its Competition program lineup on Feb. 14, revealing the selection of two Taiwanese films: “Yen and Ai-Lee (小雁與吳愛麗)” by Lin Shu-yu (林書宇) and “Family Matters (我家的事)” by Pan Ke-yin (潘客印). Both films will have their premieres in Japan at the festival, which runs from Mar. 14 to 23.

“Family Matters” received the Outstanding Screenplay Award at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Project Promotion in 2024, and its screening at OAFF will mark its world premiere. Meanwhile, “Yen and Ai-Lee” was previously praised by Minister of Culture Li Yuan, who commented that “the performances of both the cast and crew surpassed their past work.”

The Taiwan Cultural Center in Tokyo has collaborated with OAFF to introduce Taiwanese films into Japan’s market. In addition to “Yen and Ai-Lee” and “Family Matter,” other featured films include “Blind Love (失明),” “Breezy Day (晚風),” “The Chronicles of Libidoists (破浪男女),” “Cupcakes, Lonely Cats (寂寞貓蛋糕),” and “Dead Talents Society (鬼才之道).” Screenings will take place at Theatre Umeda and ABC Hall during the festival.
