Curtain rises on the 5th Taiwan Film Festival in Australia

Marking its fifth edition, the Taiwan Film Festival in Australia (澳洲台灣影展) is returning to cinemas from July 28 to August 13 with a lineup of feature and short films that will be screened in four cities across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Canberra. The festival will open with a psychological drama "Goddamned Asura (該死的阿修羅)" by director Lou Yi-an (樓一安).

This year’s lineup includes director Chang Yao-sheng’s (張耀升) "A Leg (腿)," "Till We Meet Again (月老)" by novelist and filmmaker Giddens Ko (九把刀), "I Remember (我記得)" directed by Lin Chun-ying (林俊穎), "Far Away Eyes (幻日手記)" by director Wang Chun-hong (王君弘), director Huang Yin-yu's (黃胤毓) "Green Jail (綠色牢籠)," among others.

Together with the Taiwan International Queer Film Festival, the festival will present three films on LGBT themes, including "The Glamorous Boys of Tang (唐朝.綺麗男)," "ADJU (歌舞的我們)," and "Make A Wish (她他)."

Additionally, the festival will hold screenings of two classic films-"Yi Yi: A One and A Two (一一)" and "Taipei Story (青梅竹馬)"-as part of a retrospective for the late filmmaker Edward Yang (楊德昌), as well as three shorts by renowned director Tsai Ming-liang (蔡明亮). Meanwhile, the “Short Films” program includes "Can You Hear Me? (講話沒有在聽)," "Keyboard Warrior (鍵盤俠)," and "Who the Fuck Are You (你誰)," all making their Australian premieres, as well as "Forgiveness Day (原諒)" by Australian director Derek Ho.
