Taiwan to showcase exquisite crafts at Tokyo lifestyle fair

Taiwan will join the 2018 Interior Lifestyle Tokyo, which will run from May 30 through June 1, with an extensive range of home and lifestyle products incorporating Taiwan's culture and aesthetics.

Led by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (NTCRI), which has been increasing awareness of Taiwan's brands and expanding their market share by participating in international trade fairs, a total of eight brands were selected by NTCRI to showcase their products this year in Tokyo.

The featured brands will showcase 32 exquisite crafts that embody Taiwan cultural elements. For example, the Indigo Dyeing House (卓也藍染) will introduce its colorful and soft products that are made with traditional hand-dyeing methods to present Taiwan's ecological resources and traditional way of life.

Enguchi Toy’s (江口設計) hand-made wooden toy "White Stork" will present how it combines wood design with the Montessori method of education. iThinking's (愛心進) innovative rhinoceros-shaped  hammer titled "Rhino Hammer" will present how it integrates creativity and contemporary aesthetics with traditional hand-held tools.

Carpenter (木匠兄妹) will introduce products including a wooden coffee-brewing set to present a different set of aesthetics from that of stainless steel brewers, and a wooden lamp crafted by using a Japanese method to create floral silhouettes.

Other highlights include homeware that incorporates floriated patterns to present the characteristics of four seasons.

Established in 2008, Interior Lifestyle Tokyo represents the Japanese high-end interior design market. It is similar to Ambiente, the world's leading trade fair of consumer goods based in Frankfurt, and Heimtextil, the world's largest trade show for home and commercial textiles, also based in Frankfurt.

This year, the Tokyo trade fair will host more than 700 exhibitors from around the world. Its sister fair, IFFT/Interior Lifestyle Living, will also be held this November to provide another platform for design trade.
