Taiwan Film Festival in Australia to feature 21 films online

The Taiwan Film Festival in Australia, due to take place online from Sep. 16 to 30, has announced this year's film lineup, featuring 13 feature films and 8 short films. 

In the "Filmmaker in Focus" unit, director Chen Yu-hsun's (陳玉勳) five works will be on display, namely "Tropical Fish (熱帶魚)," which uses black humor to explore social issues, "Love Go Go (愛情來了)," a stylish three-part omnibus film that intertwines each character's love lives across Taipei City, "Zone Pro Site: The Moveable Feast (總鋪師:移動大廚)," a heartwarming comedy portrays the beauty of food in its diverse forms, purposes, and meanings that connect generations of people, "The Village of No Return (健忘村)," a quirky, hilarious action-comedy starring award-winning casts Shu Qi (舒淇) and Joseph Chang (張孝全), and "My Missing Valentine (消失的情人節)," which won five prestigious awards at Golden Horse Film Festival. 

Other featured films are "Man In Love (當男人戀愛時)," starring award-winning casts Roy Chiu (邱澤) and Hsu Wei-Ning (許瑋甯)," "The Silent Forest (無聲)," based on real events regarding sexual assault cases in a hearing-impaired school in Tainan, "Taste (失落邊境)," winning Special Jury award of Berlin International Film Festival, and "Moneyboys (尋找)," a film jointly produced by Taiwan, Austria, France, and Belgium.

t is worth mentioning that "Moneyboys," starring award-winning actors Ko Chen-Tung (柯震東) and J.C. Lin (林哲熹), was shortlisted for three categories at Cannes in 2021. It is a phenomenal and elegant portrait of men's desire, hope, and greed.                  

Affirmed by international film festivals, Vietnamese emerging director Lê Bảo's (黎豹) debut feature "Taste" is a masterful craft challenge between realism and surrealism. It depicts dreamy imagery of an African migrant worker who was unable to work due to leg injuries lives in an isolation hut with four women.

In addition, selected short films are "After Death (滿七)," "Growing Pains (少年阿堯)," "Family Day (溫馨家庭日);" documentary Films include "The Tree Remembers (還有一棵樹)" "Unfulfilled Dreams (願未央)" "The Way Home (阿查依蘭的呼喚)." Additionally, those shortlisted for the "Shorts Competition" unit including "SWINGIN' (輕鬆搖擺)" "JACKS (臥底)," "XXXMOG (XX不宜)" "The Child of Nowhere (小洋)" "The Quiet (靜魘星空)."
