Taiwanese artist Tsao Liang-Pin to share his journey of developing Taiwan's photography culture

Organized by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia and curated by INXO Arts and Culture Foundation, the 55th Tea Philo (哲學茶席) calls attention to the Lightbox Photo Library (攝影圖書室), Taiwan's first non-profit photo library, inviting the founder Tsao Liang-Pin (曹良賓) to give an online talk on the topic of "Co-Creating an Open Photography Culture: The Mission and Purpose of Lightbox Photo Library (共創開放平權的攝影文化—Lightbox 攝影圖書室的工作與目標)" on July 30.

Tsao will speak about the mission of Lightbox and use it as an example to demonstrate how a non-profit art organization works with the community, contributing to a more equitable, inclusive culture of photography. The talk will be moderated by Malaysian photography artist Jeffrey Lim (林猷進), a cultural narrator who actively engages in dialogue and interaction with society through photography, cultural maps, installation art, and others.

Born in Hsinchu, Taiwan, Tsao devotes himself to public services and open culture. He holds an MFA degree from Pratt Institute and he is currently undertaking research as a Fulbright-Taiwan Ministry of Culture arts professional grantee at the National Art Gallery in Washington, D.C. In 2016, Tsao founded the Lightbox Photo Library as a free, public photography library, dedicated to the preservation, dissemination and advancement of local perspectives, and creative practices in photography.

The event is free of charge and will be conducted in English via the Zoom platform on July 30 at 8:00 pm. For further information and registration, please click here.
