France-based Taiwanese sound artist Lin Chi-wei (林其蔚) will be partnering with the Swiss chamber choir L'Académie vocale de Suisse romande (ASVR) to present five performances from April 30 to May 13 at the Festival De Bande Dessinée Lausanne (BDFIL), an international comic strip festival held in Lausanne, Switzerland. This partnership is made possible by an inaugural collaboration between the Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris and Swiss cultural hub, Plateforme 10.

The "Lin Chi-Wei - Lausanne Sound Module (林其蔚-洛桑聲音模組)" project, featuring works "Calligraphy Music (書譜)" and "Tape Music (磁帶音樂)," will be presented as the opening act of the festival. In "Calligraphy Music," six performers will read graphic scores and improvise to create synchronized polyphonic performances. Meanwhile, in "Tape Music," six performers will invite the audience to pass a tape around in a clockwise direction, without informing them of the game's rules. Each participant will randomly recite or sing nonsensical syllables or letter combinations. Both works are social sound measurement projects, where the same tape produces different sounds in different groups, shaping various spatial and communal sound sculptures.

Lin, a pioneer of sound art in Taiwan, has a background in French literature, traditional Taiwanese art, and new media art creation. He was a member of the Taiwanese noise experimental group "Zero and Sound Liberation Organization (Z.S.L.O. )" and was involved in organizing various underground noise festivals in the 1990s. In recent years, his sound creations have been exhibited in over 200 venues worldwide, combining bodily movements and performance art to explore the limits of sensation and consciousness while attempting to develop new modes of perception. His Tape Music series has been performed at the Pompidou Center in France, the Tate Modern, an art museum in the UK, and the Venice Biennale in Italy, among other places.
