Taiwanese artist Hsu Jia-ling (許家玲) has been selected to participate in a residency program from September to October at the Barcelona art village, Homesession, in Spain. Another artist Chen Jen-pei (程仁珮) has been offered a place on the waitlist.

The program is made possible through a collaboration between the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Spain and Homesession, with the aim to expand opportunities for Taiwanese artists to engage in in-depth exchanges within the art community in Spain.

According to the Homesession, Hsu utilizes her personal clinical experience in managing family-of-origin care affairs to explore the city with a microscopic view. During her residency, she will probe societal and art issues and explore the relationships between individual and city, present and history, body and memory, as well as life and architecture. By transforming the relationships into visual and performance art, Hsu made a profound impression on the jury, standing out as the selected artist for this year's residency program.

The Homesession Residency program annually selects one artist or curator who explores contemporary social and political topics and employs new media or conceptual aesthetics as a means of artistic expression to create art during their residency. This year, a total of 19 artists or curators applied for the program, marking the highest number of applications ever received in history. The selection process involved two stages, including an initial review by the Cultural Division of TECO in Spain and a final review by the Homesession jury. The selected artist will travel to Barcelona and engage in in-depth exchange from September to October and publicly share the artwork created during the residency.
