With the support of the Ministry of Culture, the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (NTCRI) will lead a delegation of outstanding craft artists and bring a number of design brands to Maison & Objet, a major French trade fair for interior design held biannually in Paris. The event is scheduled to take place from Sept. 7 to 11.

A pre-event press conference was held on Aug. 30, attended by President Chen Chi-tsun (陳啟村) of Taiwan Association of Crafts (臺灣工藝聯盟總會), Chairman Liu Wu (劉武) of Taiwan Crafts Development Association (臺灣工藝發展協會), Chairman Liao Sheng-wen (廖勝文) of Top Taiwan Handscraft arts (臺灣頂極工藝協會), and Chief Operating Officer Hung Yu-chen (洪郁甄) of The Place Taipei (老爺行旅), as well as the participating artisans and designers.

Taiwan Association of Crafts President Chen expressed his gratitude to MOC and NTCRI for offering artists the opportunity to present their art pieces on the international stage and helping promote the development of Taiwan’s craft industry. He believes that the works displayed in this year’s exhibition will showcase Taiwanese craftsmanship and gain international recognition and support.

According to NTCRI, the keynote of this year’s Taiwan Crafts and Design pavilion at Maison & Objet is “Evolving Life,” in response to the French exhibition’s theme “Enjoy,” conveying the spirit of optimism that Taiwan’s crafts in diverse development have evolved for life over the years. In order to be in line with international standards and reach the global market, over 60 pieces of furniture and household items from Taiwanese brands promoted by NTCRI will be exhibited at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre. It is hoped that Taiwanese crafts will fascinate overseas buyers and viewers.
