The much-anticipated Jazzycolors International Music Festival is back in France! The opening show on Nov. 2 featured Bojan Z, a renowned Serbian jazz pianist, composer, and producer. Besides, invited by the Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris (CCTP), Non-Confined Space (非/密閉空間), an electronic jazz band from Taiwan, will perform at the Goethe-Institute Paris on Nov. 15 during the festival.

Entering its 21st year, Jazzycolors 2023 runs from Nov. 2 to Dec. 13, delivering nearly 20 jazz musical shows. It is one of the most well-received music festivals by jazz music lovers in Paris.

This festival is organized by the Forum of Foreign Cultural Institutes in Paris (Forum des Instituts Culturels Étrangers à Paris, FICEP), aiming to showcase the world’s top as well as emerging jazz music and musicians to French audiences. FICEP was formed by 55 international cultural centers in Paris, and its mission is to promote arts and culture from around the world.

As one of the founding members, CCTP is active in the forum by introducing cultural content such as Taiwanese films, literature, comics, and music to FICEP’s events. This year marks the first collaboration between CCTP and the Goethe-Institute Paris to stage a musical show from Taiwan, where they selected the accomplished instrumental band Non-Confined Space.

Non-Confined Space is an electronic improv duo created by Sonic Deadhorse (鄭各均) and Hsieh Min-yen (謝明諺) in 2014. In Nov. 2019, they released their first album “Flow, Gesture, and Spaces” and subsequently won the Best Instrumental Album Producer at the Golden Melody Awards. As one of the most avant-garde musical ensembles in Taiwan, the band will bring French jazz fans a new and refreshing musical feast.
