Abiding Nowhere

The Berlin International Film Festival – Berlinale – announced that Taiwan-based Malaysian Director Tsai Ming-liang’s (蔡明亮) “Abiding Nowhere (無所住)” has been selected for the Berlinale Special session this year. This marks Tsai’s return to the festival with “Days (日子)” in 2020, and his 6th participation since “Rebels of the Neon God (青少年哪吒)” in 1992.

“Abiding Nowhere,” the 10th film of Tsai’s “Walker (行者)” series, was filmed in Washington D.C. in the U.S., including landmarks such as the Washington Monument and the Washington Union Station. It is commissioned by the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art to celebrate the museum’s 100th anniversary. It is also the 3rd feature-length film co-produced by Tsai and the Taiwan Public Television Service (公共電視) following “Days” and “Where (何處).”

The Berlinale 2024 will take place from Feb. 15 to 25, 2024, with the presence of Tsai and the film actors Lee Kang-sheng (李康生) and Anong Houngheuangsy in the premiere of “Abiding Nowhere.”
