Taiwanese artist to join famed Liverpool Biennial

Taiwanese artist Chen Yin-ju (陳瀅如) will join the Liverpool Biennial, one of the largest festivals of contemporary art in England that is featuring 44 artists from around the world this year.

For the 2016 Liverpool Biennial running from July 9 through Oct. 16, commissioned artists will present new works that are created for the 9th edition of the festival under the theme "Episodes.”

Chen, whose works encompass videos, photographs, installations, and drawings, will showcase "Extrastellar Evaluations,” a series of works inspired by the lost continent of Lemuria to explore visual art and social issues from the 1970s and the 1980s to global issues in the contemporary world.

The Liverpool Biennial aims to create a platform for artists from different countries to interact and collaborate. This year, artists from Japan, Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Australia will be participating in the fair.

The fourteen-week festival will unfold a series of exhibitions, forums, workshops, and live performances at galleries, museums, and public spaces across the city to present the past, present, and future of Liverpool.
