Taiwan-themed festival in Madrid slated for mid-June

In the third edition of "Made in Taiwan: Taiwan en el Circulo,” an annual Taiwan-themed festival in Madrid, two performance groups will offer innovative puppetry play and contemporary dance at a renowned Spanish cultural venue on June 26 and July 1.

Circulo de Bellas Artes has a long-running partnership with the Ministry of Culture through the Rainbow Initiative for cross-sector collaboration. The venue holds cinematic and historic relics, and also organizes events such as theater plays, exhibitions, and ticketed performances.

In its third year of collaboration with the Ministry, Circulo de Bellas Artes will host a puppetry play by Flying Group Theatre (飛人集社) on June 26 at its Sala de Columnas, and a dance piece from B. Dance (丞舞製作團隊) on July 1 at its Fernando de Rojas.

Flying Group Theatre is a Taipei-based troupe that combines puppetry, acting, and shadow plays to present captivating performances that are engaging for both adults and children. They are scheduled to bring "The Birth (初生),” which details a little girl's journey to return a lost egg to its mother, to Madrid.

B. Dance is led by Benson Tsai (蔡博丞), a Taiwanese choreographer who is widely seen as one of the most promising young choreographers in the world. Their "Floating Flowers (浮花),” a presentation of life in five stages, will have its European debut in Spain.

After their performances at Circulo de Bellas Artes, Flying Group and B. Dance will travel to France to represent Taiwan at the 2016 OFF d'Avignon Festival.
