Sound artists to perform in EU cultural capital '15

Four Taiwanese sound artists have been invited to perform at City Sonic, an international sound art festival in Belgium, from Sept. 12 through 27.

Through an exchange program between the Digital Art Center in Taipei and Transcultures in Mons, Taiwanese artists Chang Yung-ta (張永達), Fujui Wang (王福瑞), Wang Chung-kun (王仲堃), and Yao Chung-han (姚仲涵) will perform at the festival.

Host city Mons, the European Capital of Culture for 2015, will incorporate City Sonic events with local architecture to create new soundscapes and decorate historic spaces with a different type of art.

Adding to City Sonic's diversity are performances such as "Hyper Transmission,” "LLAP,” "Sound of Suitcase,” and "Relative Perception N°3” by the four Taiwanese artists.

There will also be an evening dedicated to introducing Taiwan's digital and sound arts at Café Europa on Sept. 12. The four-hour presentation will feature artist talks and live demonstrations.

Taiwan's participation in the City Sonic festival comprises the first leg of "B!as 2015: Taiwan-Belgium Sound Art Exchange Project.” The second half of the project will see visiting Belgian artists at the 2015 Digital Art Festival in Taipei this November.
