Taiwan's aboriginal children's choir to tour Europe

Taiwanese indigenous children's choir, VOX Nativa (原聲童聲合唱團), will be touring Europe this September.

VOX Nativa hails from Taiwan's tallest peak, Jade Mountain. The nonprofit music school was founded in 2008 to help boost the morale and visibility of those living 3,952 meters above sea level.

As children between the age of 9 and 13 who come from disadvantaged families, these young singers are only awarded the opportunity to join the choir if they first excel academically.

Their first stop will be Poland's Poznan on Sept. 4, followed by two performances in the German capital of Berlin on Sept. 6, and then a final concert at Austria's Vienna on Sept. 8.

The repertoire will include aboriginal hymns from several indigenous tribes in Taiwan, enduring pop songs in Taiwanese and Mandarin, as well as a German children's folk song that was specially chosen for this tour of Europe.
