The Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema (FICA) in France collaborates with the Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris to present the “Focus on Taiwanese Cinema” session, showcasing 19 Taiwanese films from Feb. 6 to 13.

The FICA was inaugurated in 1995 in Vesoul, a city in eastern France. As one of the oldest film festivals of Asian cinema in Europe, it was listed as one of the ten biggest film festivals in France, attracting nearly 30,000 visitors every year.

Supported by the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute (TFAI), the special screening session showcases Taiwanese films from 1962 to 2022, including films during the martial law period, Taiwan New Cinema films, internationally acclaimed productions, and representative works by female directors.

Besides the screening session, a roundtable forum will be held on Feb. 9, inviting Taiwanese directors Chou Mei-ling (周美玲), Laha Mebow (陳潔瑤), and cinematographer Hoho Liu (劉芸后), along with French filmmakers and critics.
