Czech human rights film festival to show three Taiwanese works

The One World International Film Festival, the largest human rights film festival in the world, commenced in the Czech Republic on Mar. 20. This year, in collaboration with the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Prague, the festival highlights three works from Taiwan.

Established by the Czech humanitarian and human rights organization People in Need in 1999, the One World Festival brings documentaries on human rights from around the world to local audiences. These films are screened in dozens of towns throughout the country and at Czech primary and secondary schools.

The festival, running from March 20 to April 21, showcases Taiwanese cinematic works, including Vanessa Hope’s film “Invisible Nation (看不見的國家),” Midi Z’s film “The Clinic (診所),” and Chen Singing’s virtual reality work “The Man Who Couldn’t Leave (無法離開的人).” Additionally, “Abang Adik (富都青年),” a Malaysian film featuring Taiwanese actor Wu Kang-ren (吳慷仁), will also be screened during the festival.
