Taiwanese filmmakers invited to residency program in southern Italy

The Associazione Culturale CinemAmbulante in Italy is hosting the 9th Kino Guarimba Film Residency program in Amantea, a town in southern Italy. The program is taking place from June 10 to 21, with five Taiwanese filmmakers invited to participate in the event.

The five Taiwanese filmmakers—Chang Chun-yu (張均瑜), Han Chieh (韓婕), Huang Shih-chia (黃式佳), Li Yu-chieh (李鈺婕), and Yang Chih-chun (楊智淳)—were featured in the newspaper il Quotidiano del Sud in a story about the program.

The Kino Guarimba Film Residency program, founded by Giulio Vita and Sara Fratini in 2018, promotes films that emphasize inclusiveness and cultural integration. This year, filmmakers from 50 countries were invited to participate, offering opportunities to discover new cultures, as well as to create documentaries about the town of Amantea.

Teng Mei-jung (鄧美容), the director of the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in Italy, remarked that this program opens up a dialogue between Taiwan’s young filmmakers and international partners in the film industry, aiding in building a solid foundation for future collaborations.
