Organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany, the Taiwan literary salon, running from Sept. 15 to Oct. 24, will bring several Taiwanese writers to six cities across Germany.

Notably, “The Dancing Spring Goddess (春神跳舞的森林),” a picture book written by Yan Shu-nu (嚴淑女) and illustrated by Chang Yu-jan (張又然), will be highlighted at the 24th Berlin International Literature Festival on Sept. 15, serving as the opening event of the salon.

Chang Yu-jan is renowned for his detailed illustrations, often blending natural landscapes with humanistic elements. “The Dancing Spring Goddess,” a 2001 BolognaRagazzi Award nominee, is his second work that has been translated into German.

The invited writers for the Taiwan literary salon include Ping Lu (平路), Joanne Teng (鄧九雲), Ma Yi-hang (馬翊航), and Chuang Yung-hsin (莊永新). With over 12 interactive sessions planned, they aim to introduce Taiwanese literature to German readers.
