Supported by the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Spain, the L.E.V. Matadero 2024, an annual audiovisual and digital art festival in Madrid, will host the exhibition “Pixel Gods: Taiwan Digital (像素之神:數位臺灣)” from Sept. 19 to Oct. 13.
Centered on the concept of “pixel” as the fundamental unit of digital images, “Pixel Gods: Taiwan Digital” reflects on the culture of adoration and veneration shaped by digital images and videos in our post-digital society. The exhibition features works by Taiwanese artist Ku Kuang-yi (顧廣毅), along with art groups Team9 and Simple Noodle Art (陽春麵研究舍).
Additionally, from Sept. 19 to 22, Taiwanese artist Huang Hsin-chien (黃心健) and French avant-garde electronic musician Jean-Michel Jarre will showcase their interactive virtual reality piece, “The Eye and I (自監體)”.
Chang Yu-hsuan (張祐瑄), the director of the Cultural Division, noted that Taiwanese digital artists have been gaining international attention for their cross-disciplinary creations. She emphasized that this collaboration with the Spanish festival aims to foster greater international exchange and collaboration.
