Lyon Illustration Festival (IF)

The Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris, in collaboration with the French contemporary illustration magazine publisher Kiblind, will showcase three Taiwanese artists at the second Lyon Illustration Festival (IF) from Sept. 27 to 29. The featured artists are Saitemiss (低級失誤), Abwu (吳致怡), and An Chen (陳盈安).

Founded in 2004, Kiblind is a visual art institution that also publishes an eponymous magazine promoting illustration as an independent art form. In 2023, the institution launched IF to highlight the application of illustration and to showcase emerging artists. This year’s festival will feature 80 artists from Taiwan, France, the U.S., Canada, and other countries.

Hu Ching-fang (胡晴舫), Director of the Taiwan Cultural Center in France, noted that Taiwanese picture books, illustrations, and comics are well-received in France, as evidenced by the invitations extended to Taiwanese artists to participate in events such as the Festival de bande dessinée Lausanne, as well as residency programs of La Cité internationale de la Bande Dessinée et de l’image and the Masion de la bd.
