Taiwan art exhibition ‘Nothing Happened here Today’ opens in Sweden

The Skövde Art Museum in Sweden launched a Taiwanese art exhibition titled “Nothing Happened here Today” on Oct. 17, showcasing different aspects of Taiwanese culture through the works of 9 Taiwanese artists.

At the opening ceremony, the exhibition’s curator, Tomas Asplund Gustafsson, and three of the artists – Chiang Pin-hsuan (江品萱), Wang Cheng-hsiang (王正祥), and Cheng Ting-ting (鄭亭亭) – participated in a dialogue session.

Tomas Asplund Gustafsson noted that this exhibition resulted from the museum’s visit to Taiwan in February. He shared that, prior to the visit, his impression of Taiwan was as “the most dangerous place on Earth” due to the Taiwan Strait tensions, but during his stay, he experienced no danger and found the people to be calm and at ease.

He also emphasized that Taiwan’s art scene is vibrant, featuring a wide variety of themes and mediums.

The Skövde Art Museum is a part of the Skövde Cultural Center, the oldest cultural venue in Sweden. The museum dedicates its collection and exhibition to themes of gender, gender equality, and challenging societal norms.

The exhibition will run until Mar. 16, 2025. For more information, visit the Skövde Art Museum's website.
