Museum of Oriental Art in Italy features Taiwanese artist Tsai Char-wei

Supported by the Cultural Division of Taipei Representative Office in Italy, the Museum of Oriental Art (MAO) in Turin, Italy, is showcasing Taiwanese artist Tsai Char-wei (蔡佳葳)’s work in its exhibition “Contemporary Expressions,” inaugurated on Nov. 2.

A highlight of the exhibition is Tsai’s installation, which consists of one hundred offering vessels made using a sophisticated pottery technique and then hand decorated with prayer inscriptions by the artist. Mixing ritual and artistic tradition, the work encourages the active and performative participation of the visitors, who are asked to leave small offerings in the vases.

The Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in Italy expressed its commitment to further collaborations with local museums and art institutions to promote Taiwanese artists, fostering greater exchange and understanding between both cultures.

The exhibition is open until Oct. 31, 2025. For more information, visit the MAO’s website
