Taiwan’s Longshan Temple featured in French Lego exhibition

Supported by the Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris, the Paris Foreign Missions (Missions étrangères de Paris, MEP) will launch an exhibition titled “Destination Asia, A Missionary Journey in Lego Bricks,” which showcases Lego models of various Asian cultural heritage, including Taiwan’s Longshan Temple (龍山寺).

Established in the 18th century, Longshan Temple is one of the oldest and most important temples on the island. The temple, dedicated to bodhisattvas and Taoist gods, is an important religious center in the sinophone world.

Holding the exhibition featuring 14 landmarks from 12 countries with ties to the MEP such as India, Madagascar, South Korea, and Taiwan, the MEP aims to introduce the French public to Asian cultures from intercultural and interreligious perspectives.

The MEP, first arriving in Taiwan in the 19th century, has been devoting itself to education and philanthropy in eastern Taiwan, and has made significant cultural contributions through the publication of indigenous language dictionaries and documents on local geography, culture, and languages.

The event is set to take place from Nov. 30, 2024 to July 5, 2025, and will feature a variety of cultural programs alongside the exhibition, such as guided tours, concerts, workshops, and games. For more information, visit the MEP’s official website.
