French literary festival features Taiwanese writer Li Ang

The Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris, in collaboration with the Atlantide Literature Festival 2025, has invited Taiwanese writer Li Ang (李昂) to participate in the event in Nantes, France, from Mar. 6 to 9.

At the festival, Li Ang will present her latest short story collection in French translation, “Passion Foods (鴛鴦春膳).” The book comprises eight short stories that explore Taiwanese heritage through cuisine—such as curry rice and beef noodle soup—while reflecting on Taiwan’s political and societal evolution over the past century.

Now in its 13th edition, the Atlantide Literature Festival brings together 57 writers from 25 countries this year, offering more than 90 activities that engage with themes such as social justice, poetic language, gender, and environmental issues.

Renowned as one of the most progressive literary festivals of its kind, Atlantide is committed to defending freedom of expression and imagination. This year, it will host “The Anti-Censorship Evening,” an event dedicated to showcasing literary works that have been censored or overlooked, underscoring the power of writing as a means of free expression.
