The Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany and the Taiwan Association in Berlin, Germany (德國柏林台灣協會) are collaborating to invite Taiwanese artists to participate in exhibitions at the Haus der Kunst in Munich, the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, and the WRO Media Art Biennale in Poland this year.
The exhibition “Musafiri: Of Travellers and Guests,” running at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin until Jun. 16, features 140 artworks of 40 artists worldwide, including Taiwanese artists Idas Losin (宜德思・盧信) and Musquiqui Chihying (致穎). Idas Losin’s large scale painting “In My World” reflects her efforts to restore the connection to her Truku and Atayal roots and to contribute to the design of a contemporary Taiwanese identity from the Austronesian perspective. Meanwhile, Musquiqui Chihying’s media installation “The Link” deals with surveillance and discipline technologies to get to the bottom of the invisible connections between past and present hegemony.
Furthermore, the Haus Der Kunst in Munich is showcasing Cheang Shu-lea’s (鄭淑麗) exhibition “KI$$ KI$$” until Aug. 3, presenting the artist’s works of the past three decades and places them in an updated context.
Additionally, WRO Media Art Biennale, set to run from May 14 to Jun. 15, will feature “Under Tension 2.0,” a collaborative work by Taiwanese artist Fu Ya-wen (傅雅雯), dancer Chou Shu-yi (周書毅), and Spanish sound artist Daniel Romero Calderón. This performance explores the dynamic interplay between individuals and their surroundings through physical constraints.
