In collaboration with the Cultural Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Prague, the One World International Human Rights Film Festival, running from Mar. 12 to Apr. 27 in the Czech Republic, features three films from Taiwan: “Xi Xi (曦曦),” “Island in Between (金門),” and “Address Unknown: Fukushima Now (住所不明:福島今).
Directed by Wu Fan (吳璠), the documentary “Xi Xi” follows performing artist Xi Xi, portraying her creative journey, female experience, and self-identity. Taiwan’s first Oscar nominee for Best Documentary Short , “Island in Between,” directed by S. Leo Chiang (江松長), captures the daily lives of Kinmen, Taiwan’s outlying island that lies in the Amoy (Xiamen) Bay, southeast of mainland China’s Fujian Province. “Address Unknown: Fukushima Now,” a Taiwan co-produced immersive VR documentary, takes audiences to meet the survivors of the Fukushima nuclear incident living in the shadow today.
Attending the festival’s opening event on Mar. 12, Ke Liang-ruey (柯良叡), Representative of the TECO in Prague, said that the partnership with the festival not only enhances the global visibility of Taiwanese films but also deepens ties between Taiwan and the Czech Republic in cultural and human rights affairs.
