Lithuanian art residency program opens call for Taiwanese artists

The Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany and Taiwan-based art group Hyper Wave (超級浪) are collaborating with the SODAS 2123 Cultural Center in Lithuania to launch a three-month residency program. The program is now accepting submissions until Apr. 13, selecting one Taiwanese artist to reside in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, from Aug. 1 to Oct. 29.

During the residency, the selected artist will have access to various opportunities, including open studio visits, exchanges with local curators, interviews with Lithuanian media, and a final presentation of his/her work.

The selection process consists of two rounds. In the first round, Hyper Wave will convene a committee to evaluate written applications. In the second round, SODAS 2123 will conduct a video interview in English with the applicants. The final result will be announced in May.

Initiated in 2020, the SODAS 2123 Cultural Center is a self-governing community-based space, operated and curated by the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association. It brings together creators and researchers from different fields, with practices based on experimentation, developing unexpected formats, and responding to the latest cultural, social, geopolitical, and ecological issues.
