Supported by the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany, Taiwanese artist Chen Ting-jung’s (陳庭榕) solo exhibition “Here On the Edge of the Sea We Sit (我們坐在,這,海的邊緣)” opened on Mar. 20 at the renowned daadgalerie in Berlin. Featuring Chen’s latest sound installations and sculptures, the exhibition is one of the main events in the MaerzMusik festival.

Born in Taipei, Chen studied in Germany and Austria and has developed her artistic practice in Berlin, Vienna, and Taipei. In 2024, she was selected for the prestigious DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program, spending a year in the capital city of Germany to further refine her craft.

“Here On the Edge of the Sea We Sit” resonates with the echoes of public political speeches as well as public monuments, offering a critical perspective on how narratives, power, and identity are not only constructed but also expressed and contested within public and private spheres.

Yeh Wei-ni (葉瑋妮), director of the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany, highlighted the exhibition’s relevance to Taiwan, as it reflects on how individuals interpret history, politics, and culture.

This exhibition runs until May 4. For more information, visit the daadgalerie’s official website
